It Was Love At First Sight For First-Time Buyer At Sonic
When Renuga Rajaratnam visited the Sonic Condos presentation centre, she had no idea that she would leave as a first-time homebuyer. This exciting new condominium residence by Lindvest is situated at Eglinton Avenue East and Don Mills Road, close to where Renuga lives with her parents. She was so impressed by the opportunity to own a new condominium suite in the area of Toronto she knows and loves, that she jumped at the chance to purchase.
“I wasn’t even thinking of buying a home until my dad saw the signs for Sonic,” says the University of Toronto Commerce graduate who works downtown as a chartered professional accountant. “He suggested I check it out, because occupancy is in 2019, which gives me plenty of time to save money. I walked in, and the next thing I knew, I walked out as a buyer!”
Renuga points out the many benefits of staying in the area. “Right now, my work commute involves a bus ride and two train rides to get to Union Station. When the Metrolinx Crosstown LRT is complete, my commute will be much shorter.” Sonic residents will also be served by bus routes, and Hwy. 401 and the Don Valley Parkway, which are only minutes away.
“I also love the local parks, and there will be a lot of greenery around Sonic,” Renuga says. “I’m an athletic person, and I enjoy getting out into the fresh air for morning jogs and hikes.” She also appreciates the other amenities in the Don Mills-Eglinton neighbourhood, including the Ontario Science Centre, Aga Khan Museum, grocery stores and Shops at Don Mills. “My friends and I hang out there,” she adds. “There is a real community environment in this area.”
Award-winning Page + Steele/ IBI Group Architects designed the sleek, 28-storey tower atop a three- storey podium for the first phase in Lindvest’s two-tower residence. Landscaping by NAK Design Group includes a large park with a playground, walking path, water feature, exercise equipment and seating. The fourth-floor rooftop will feature lounges, cabanas, barbecues, fire pits and dining areas. This is all part of Sonic’s more than 25,000 sq. ft. of indoor/outdoor amenity space. Designed by Union31, indoor options range from dining and party rooms to a screening room, pet spa, guest suite, and fitness centre complete with a gym and yoga room.
Union31 also designed the suites. Their timelessly modern layouts maximize space with linear kitchens highlighted by two-toned wood and lacquer cabinetry, stainless steel and integrated appliances, and drop-in cooktops. Features and finishes also include floor-to-ceiling window systems, plank laminate flooring and quartz countertops.
Renuga selected the 824-sq.-ft., two-bedroom, two-bathroom “click” design for its lifestyle potential. “My dad thinks I should use the second bedroom as an office, but I’m going to make it my walk-in closet. Don’t judge me!” She adds, “My suite will be on a corner, and I’ll have great views of the downtown skyline from my balcony.” She is excited about decorating her new condo and is grateful to have time to plan. “I’m already looking around at possible furnishings. It’s pretty exciting.”
This first-time buyer feels confident purchasing from Lindvest, a Toronto- based real estate development organization with deep roots, spanning six decades in the award- winning, highly reputed H&R family of companies. Founded in 1998, Lindvest is committed to developing well- planned, innovative communities.
“The sales representative was amazing to work with,” Renuga says. “He provided me with the information I needed, and when I visited several times with family members, everyone there was warm and welcoming.” Renuga’s family was so impressed that her sister and brother each purchased a suite as well.
