Sonic Vision
"We want sites where people want to live," says Michoel Klugmann of Lindvest. That seems a pretty standard philosophy for any residential developer, but while many would find a site in Toronto's busy downtown core, Lindvest's new project, Sonic Condominiums, is at Eglinton Avenue East and Don Mills Road. The area known for the Ontario Science Centre is changing, Klugmann says, with several projects planned. "People want to live on transit," he says. Metrolinx's Eglinton Crosstown LRT Science Centre Station and bus terminal will combine with close access to the Don Valley Parkway to offer exactly that. "These people don't want to be in suburbia, they want to be in the city," Klugmann adds. "It's a great transit site.
200 Steps: While the Shops at Don Mills offer great retail a 20-minute walk away - less than 10 by car - everyday needs are fulfilled closer to home. Real Canadian Superstore, with a pharmacy, Goodlife Fitness and Joe Fresh, is a three-minute walk.
400 Steps: Sonic has proven popular with families, Klugmann says, which makes the Ontraio Science Centre's proximity a perfect fit. It is a six-minute walk away.
800 Steps: "It's very lush," Klugmann says of Sonic's location. While there will be landscaped outdoor space, there's plenty more nearby. Serena Gundy Park is 12 minutes away, and Sunnybrook and E.T. Seton parks aren't much farther. "There's an extensive trail network," he adds. Flemingdon Park Golf Club is nearby, too.
